Project 1

This work chronicles the deeply personal and tempestuous journey of developmental experiences, resistance, and identity. Capturing fragments of a narrative filled with struggle, confrontation, and a gradual reclamation of self. Drawing on the tension between restriction and freedom, reflecting the conflicting forces of familial control and societal expectations against the pull of my true identity. In the photos, objects are carefully chosen and arranged to embody this struggle, depicting a world where pieces are imbued with both a sense of belonging and alienation. Showcasing moments of feeling broken, attempts to be “fixed”, and a slow, painful process of learning to embrace wholeness on my own terms. The presence of technology highlights its role as a lifeline, a gateway to a community where I could find connection, comfort, and a space to explore my identity beyond the constraints of my immediate world. As well as a curse forcing my reliance on it making it difficult to feel true and whole in the outside world. Creating this work is less about arriving at a final destination, as I am still on my journey, but more about honoring the winding, burning, road of self discovery and contentment.
